Who's Who of The Benny Hill Show
More updates to our Who's Who Of The Benny Hill Show pages. This time not from William Brown but from someone who actually wishes to remain anonymous. However, William Brown was helping in confirming the identities of some of these ladies that appeared on TBHS, including, Anne Irving, Carla Wansey, Valerie Kendall, Trudy Miller, Denise Brownlow & Penny Chisholm. Thanks again to William Brown and to our anonymous tipster.
More updates to the syndicated series Episode Guide. Some dates and fine tweaking. Thanks to William Brown for his research. Most of these references to the Upcoming Naughty Early Years, Set 3 from A&E.
William Brown continues to prove his abilities as a researcher. He has managed to dig up some of the production code numbers and recording dates for some of the shows. I am adding these to the Original Series pages, which of course reflects the A&E DVD releases. There are only some added for the first few years, but many more will be added later. Keep an eye on the Original Series pages for updates.
Once again, contributing editor William Brown has dug deep to unearth those bits of info about stars who came and went over the years, and then some! This time the Who's Who pages feature information on several cast members and special guests including: The Orange Blossom Sound, Pat Ashton, Sue Bond, Patricia Hayes, Ron Shand, Victoria Shellard & The EMI 2001 Color Camera ... yes, there is even info on the special cameras used to shoot the series. You'll find all of the photos and info on the above stars in the Who's Who Of The Benny Hill Show, section. Just follow the links. You'll also notice more improvements in layout and design there as well. Once again, thanks to William Brown for providing the info and the screen caps. He probably knows more about the Benny Hill Show than just about anybody. Enjoy!
Hotel Splendide ezboard
If you don't feel like sending me any emails about the site or posting in the guestbook, you can sign up to the Hotel Splendide ezboard instead. I have now added a new Discussion area devoted to your comments about this website. Feel free to post your experiences with the site and suggestions there. I have taken some extra time to adapt the site to view properly in several browsers and would like to hear from you.
Lesley Goldie Fan Site
Lesley Goldie fans, you can now go to The Lesley Goldie Fan Site, devoted exclusively to Lesley Goldie. I think any Benny Hill fan is going to want to check it out. Jon Calderas is the webmaster and I am sure we're going to see a great tribute to Ms. Goldie there. The online Benny Hill Community just continues to grow. Keep up the good work Jon!
Benny Hill: The Lost Years DVD
I recently received an email from Mark Klebanov of Warner Bros. Online Marketing informing me of the release of a new DVD entitled Benny Hill: The Lost Years. The release date is presently August 16, 2005. I have put together a page with some promotional materials, a link to warnerhomevideo.com, some screen captures and streaming video links for each program in the collection. There may be more information on this collection later, but for now check it out at the Benny Hill: The Lost Years DVD page.
Woah!! A huge update to the site this time. Since the last update, I have reformatted the site with a two-column layout. This now makes the site viewable in more types of browsers. I have tested the site with the following browsers:
Browsers:
Internet Explorer 6.0
Netscape 7.0, 7.2, 8.0.2
Firefox 1.0.4
Opera 8.01
For Mac Users
Safari 2.0
I have not been able to test the site in older versions of the above browsers and would appreciate any comments for those who are using browsers other than those I have mentioned above.
I have added Pop-Up Photo Galleries to the site. You will notice larger images for the A&E sets than for the other galleries throughout the site. Since, the A&E DVD has such high video quality, I thought it would be best to start adding larger images gradually to the site as each new DVD becomes available. Note: Each Gallery is viewable in a Pop-Up Version and a Non Pop-Up Version for those who do not support Pop-Ups. I hope this will be to everyone's mutual benefit. Again, I will be adding larger images to the Hill's Angels routines and to the Golden Classics and Golden Greats galleries later on. Note: You will find images that are now 500 pixels wide by 357 pixels high for both of the A&E DVD sets that are now available. Enjoy!
Pop-Up Gallery News & Browser compatibility
I am now in the process of updating the site once again. Yes, it may seem a little wierd to do it again so soon, but I feel that I need to take more time to make sure those with browsers other than Internet Explorer can actually view the site the way I intended it. I have tried it in Netscape 8.0, Netscape 7.2 and Firefox. Also, I am using the same strategy for the Pop-Up Galleries. Good News for those who do not have browsers which do not support Pop-Ups or have Pop-Up Stopper programs: For each gallery there is also a Non-Pop-Up Link to each gallery, which should make it easier for those who dislike Pop-Ups. This process will take some time as I am remodelling the galleries and all of the pages on the site. I do hope I can iron out all of the wrinkles that may be causing problems for those with various browsers. Please feel free to let me know what browser you are using and if you are having any problems. Thanks.
Problems with Pop-Up Gallery for Netscape Users
There seems to be some trouble with the Pop-Up Gallery for Netscape Users. It may take a little time to get the Pop-Up Gallery working properly for some browsers. However, it seems to work just fine for Internet Explorer. Please feel free to pass along any of your experiences with the new Pop-Up Gallery. Will keep you posted on the progress I am having.
I am now in the process of updating the Photo Galleries throughout the site. Starting with the reviews of The A&E DVDs, you will now download larger photos than I had on the site before. I have plenty of space in this domain and most people have higher connection speeds. Please feel free to let me know if the photos are taking too long to download. They now measure 500px wide by 357px high. The first gallery is the A&E Set 1 DVD Review. I will add more later but this is just a trial run to see how people get on and what they think. Please feel free to email any comments.
Once again, contributing editor William Brown has passed along some great screen shots and info. I was sent a photo of Pop Group "Design" as well as a pic of Lee Gibson, Eira Heath and Lorraine Doyle. All of these shots and their info were added by contributing editor, William Brown for the Who's Who Of The Benny Hill Show pages. You will also find a shot of Nicholas Parsons in The Cast page.
William has also identified more Angels in many of the Hill's Angels routines galleries, including Lisa Price, Beverley Kay, Abigail Higgins and others. There are also more Angels identified in the Who's Who of Hill's Angels pages. Once again, thanks to William Brown. Please note that we have striven to be accurate, but mistakes do happen, so check back from time to time for changes.
We have more names and faces added to the Who's Who Of The Benny Hill Show, courtesy of William Brown. Names and faces added are Jenny Lee-Wright (lots of requests for her), Trudi Van Doorn, Penny Irving, a few latter-day Angels (Sara Throssell, Helen Carpenter, Susie Waring and Liz Jobling) as well as some of the Little Angels: Adam Johnstone, Joanna Kirkland, Jade Westbrook and Louise Whatling. Thanks again to William Brown for the info and the great screen captures.
I have now added the new Pop-Up Photo Gallery to the Hill's Angels Routines pages in the site. Let me know if you have any problems with the Gallery or just pass along a note and let me know what you think. Once again, special thanks to Courts Carter of pizzabytheslice.com for his amazing Pop-Up Photo Gallery. Note: I have added many names for each photo in the Pop-Up Gallery. I apologize if any of the names are incorrect. As this site continues to grow, I am sure there will be many changes and corrections as we go along. Please feel free to pass along your suggestions.
A Special thanks must go to Courts Carter of pizzabytheslice.com for his amazing Pop-Up Photo Gallery. I am just beginning the process of adding this really cool gallery to the site. Don't worry... this gallery doesn't open until you click the appropriate link! I have only one page with the gallery at the moment, Chez Ben Grand Gala. Check back here and I will have the rest of the galleries up the same way in a few weeks. It will take a little time. Thanks again to Courts Carter!
A cosmetic change this time. I am now using a bold text for the site so the text is a little more legible. Hope you like the new look. Again, drop me a line if you like and let me know what you think. Till next time...
New Guestbook is Ready!
Special Thanks must go to Richard Surrette who took the trouble to put together my New Guestbook. Feel free to post comments or suggestions there. Please keep messages to 200 characters. If you have longer message, feel free to add another post. I have also added the messages from the old Guestbook I had at Yahoo! Thanks for being patient and thanks again to Richard Surrette!
Who's Who Updates
William Brown continues to add more entries to the Who's Who Of The Benny Hill Show. There are now entries for Nicholas Parsons, Two's Company, Richard Whatling, Los Zafiros and a few more I've added myself, including Trisha Noble, Bettine Le Beau, Andree Melly and Paula Wilcox.
Supporting Player Jimmy Thompson dies
Jimmy Thompson, who appeared in "The Hitchhiker" has died. You can read an obituary for Thompson at The Stage Online. Thanks to William Brown for passing along this info.
ll of the details that William Brown sent me have been added to the Syndicated Series Episode Guide. And there were 111 Shows, not 109. There will of course be more corrections and so on, I'm sure, but the details for when and where shows/sketches appeared are pretty much complete. Keep your eyes open for further updates. Thanks again to William Brown.
I do have a new guestbook but there are a few bugs in it still. Please refrain from posting any messages for the time being. I will post here and let you know when it is up and running smoothly. Thanks to Richard S. for all of his hard work in building the new guestbook!
Unfortunately, the "Benny Hill's Hotel Splendide" EZBoard has been the victim of an internet hacker. But not just my board, but EZBoard as a whole has lost many of it's messages and data. This just happened over the last couple of days. EZBoard has announced that it is going to attempt to retrieve as much of the lost data as possible. I will pass along info here when there is any change or news. There are those individuals who use the internet as a weapon. The best we can do is hope for EZBoard administration to retrieve the lost data.
To conserve space and save on bandwidth, I have taken the liberty of dividing the updated Site Map pages into several pages. This organizes the updates in a way that makes it easier to find information for a specific time. Archive 1 contains the earliest updates.
